Memorial Gallery Fingerprint Jewelry or Thumbprint Jewelry gives families and friends the unique opportunity to immortalize the fingerprint, footprint hand print or foot prints of their loved one in a precision-engraved precious-metal charm. The fingerprint can be incorporated into a number of styles of memorial jewelry including pendants, tie-tacks and cufflinks.
There are two different types of engraving process for our fingerprint jewelry. Precious metal engraving is etched into the surface of the pendant giving it a three dimensional quality. The Stainless Steel pendants engraved without the use of ink or dyes of any kind. The crisp and elegant engraving mark is created by thermally fusing a nano-ceramic coating that is as hard and resilient as the stainless steel metal itself. The print appears black in contrast for the stainless steel pendants while the print on the precious metal engravings are the same color as the metal.
How do I collect fingerprints? We recommend using "baby/child-safe" or "non-toxic" ink pad and plain white paper (no lines). Black ink works best. Begin by studying the thumb of the person whose print is being taken. Select the area of the finger (any print will work, it doesn't have to be only a thumbprint) that is the most interesting. It is generally the area on the pad of the thumb where the ridges swirl. This is the area you will want to ink. Practice taking prints on any blank white sheet of paper. Lightly touch the inked surface twice and then press downward on the paper. Use more of a tapping motion than a rolling one. When you are satisfied with the look of the practice prints, place five good prints along the bottom of plain white paper or a white card. Artisans will select the clearest portion of the best print for casting.
Please note: each fingerprint or other print is unique and will not look exactly like photo samples. Quality of finished charm depends on quality of submitted print. Because they cannot be re-stocked we do not provide refunds on fingerprint jewelry.
