This piece is hand made and raku fired by the artist which ensures a truly one of a kind urn. The raku process requires removing the piece from the kiln at approximately 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, and smoking it with some type of combustible in an enclosed container. The smoking, depending on the glaze, can create a range of colors and textures. The variations in timing, materials, and even weather, allow for unlimited possibilities in the outcome. These elements of chance, combined with the necessarily spontaneous actions taken by the artist are clearly manifest in the resulting piece. The piece includes german silver wire addition.
