This hand made horse hair cremation urn is a one of a kind piece. The lid is adorned with a beautiful shell.

Horse hair cremation urns have a beautiful finish usually associated with the southwest art scene. Southwest Indian tribes have decorated pottery for over 1000 years using this technique. The urns are heated up to 1600 degrees before being pulled from the fire to have horse hair added to surface on the pot. The hair burns off but the back line remains. Horse hair pottery is biodegradable and will biodegrade in about one month in moist earth or water. Since horse hair pottery is unglazed do not use urn to hold water.
